Find out what it means to Lincoln
Professions of love on the bathroom walls. Your latest grudge scrawled all over the mirrors but no one can see past it to fix their hair. Then of course, your homeroom is temporarily moved due to some one else’s anger management problem.
Meanwhile janitors who have nothing to do with your aggression, have to scrape your scum up in order to preserve some scrap of dignity for our school. The school wastes money that would otherwise come back to you just because a sudden urge gave someone the idea that vandalizing would make them feel better.
The recent surge in vandalism at our school is unacceptable. We, the Lincoln Log Staff believe that all students at our school should treat our school and faculty with more respect.
How can writing hate words on the walls of our school make anything better? The reason why people graffiti or ‘tag’ is to leave their mark, but there are better ways to be remembered. Tags are always washed off eventually, but positive influences last forever.
By defacing school property, the public eye will only see Lincoln and its students as a bunch of delinquents. That is definitely not how any of us want to be seen and known for, so why do it?
The cleaning up of all of our school’s vandalism problems has cost us several hundred dollars, and all of that has affected we, the students, directly. That money could have funded a school event, such as a school dance.
As students, we should all have at least a little bit of pride in our school, and should treat everyone and everything in this school with high esteem.
